MILC

is a smart and green delivery system for natural actives only made of food derived ingredients with no synthetic adjuvants and marketable as clean-label product.

MILC proprietary formula is designed to disperse the hydrophobic natural actives within a monolithic matrix increasing  theirs pharmacokinetic profile.

The natural actives are now:

  1. shielded from light, atmospheric oxidation and the gastric acids;
  2. delivered in the enteric tract;
  3. liberated with a controlled release rate.

How it works

The active is exposed to acids and gastric enzymes, dissipating the therapeutic payload.

The active is shielded from gastric acids and enzymes, protecting the therapeutic payload.

Only the surviving dose arrives into the enteric tract.

The initial dosage is concentrated into the enteric tract.

The absorption of the actives is hindered by the larger granulometry and poor liberation.

The micronization increases the active liberation enhancing the absorption of the poorly soluble actives.

Efficacy

Preclinical studies

MILC is an amorphous powder made of monolithic microparticles with controlled granulometry. Each acting as an independent delivery system for lipophilic compounds as quercetin, cholecalciferol, retinol palmitate, β-carotene and more.

MILC-Q

MILC-Q is an amorphous powder made of quercetin formulated as MILC, containing thousands of monolithic microparticles each acting as an independent delivery system. Due to its formulation MILC-Q features pH dependent release, concentrating the quercetin in the enteric tract. In the below plot the MILC-Q retains quercetin at pH below 2 and releases when the pH is over 6,5.

In vivo studies, bioavailability

MILC-Q was tested on two in vivo studies. The first, on Wistar rats, showed as the MILC-Q, when orally administrated, increases the bioavailability over 26 times if compared to the pure quercetin administrate with the same conditions.

MILC-β

MILC-β is an amorphous powder made of β-carotene formulated as MILC and containing thousands of monolithic microparticles each acting as an independent delivery system. Due to its formulation MILC-β optimizes the liberation of β-carotene, prolonging the release and extending its action.

MILC-D

MILC-D is an amorphous powder made of cholecalciferol formulated as MILC and containing thousands of monolithic microparticles each acting as an independent delivery system. Due to its formulation MILC-D optimizes the liberation of cholecalciferol, with a pH dependent and prolonged release that protects the cholecalciferol from the gastric environment and extends its action.

MILC-A

MILC-A is an amorphous powder made of retinol palmitate formulated as MILC and containing thousands of monolithic microparticles each acting as an independent delivery system. Due to its formulation MILC-A optimizes the liberation of retinol palmitate , with a pH dependent and prolonged release that protects the retinol palmitate from the gastric environment and extends its action.
